WINDMILL AWL-10 STORMPROOF LIGHTER
THIS LIGHTER IS SHIPPED WITHOUT FUEL.
FAA regulates carrying & shipping of butane lighters and fuel on commercial airlines. Please be aware of current regulations before traveling with this lighter.
PLEASE READ BEFORE OPERATING
Warning
- KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
- Lighter uses flammable butane gas under pressure as fuel
- Never expose to heat above 120 degrees F (49 degrees C)
- Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight
- Never puncture lighter or fuel container
- Do not incinerate lighter and/or gas container
- Do not touch burner to surface being lit
- Ignite lighter away from face and clothing
- Take care when igniting flame in bright light as flame is difficult to see and flame temperature is very high
- Be sure flame is out after use
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
FILLING THE LIGHTER
Premium Butane or Triple Refined Butane Gas Fuel is RECOMMENDED
- Place filler tip of gas container onto inlet valve and press firmly for a few seconds
- Fill with gas slowly and do not overfill
FLAME LEVEL ADJUSTMENT:
- To adjust the flame level, use a small blade screwdriver or thumbnail to turn the flame adjustment ring surrounding the inlet valve.
- Turn the adjustment ring toward the (+) mark to increase the flame
- Turn the adjustment ring toward the (-) mark to reduce the flame
·As the lighter is used, pressure in the fuel tank reduces and flame level may need to be re-adjusted to desired flame height.
- Flame level may need to be re-adjusted to accommodate changes in altitude or temperature.
- When lighter is used at colder temperatures or at higher or lower altitudes than normal place of use, ignition conditions may be affected.
IGNITION:
- Wipe lighter and hands dry before igniting lighter
- Open cap of lighter by pressing on the cap release button
- Press down on the ignition lever firmly with thumb
- Ignition will only occur when ignition lever is pressed.
- Burner will produce a hissing noise when operating. This noise is completely normal.
- This lighter features a burner that produces a nearly invisible highly efficient flame. An orange glow is produced inside the burner while also producing a light blue flame that extends from the burner nozzle.
- Do not touch or tamper with the burner nozzle or coiled ignition wire inside the burner. Doing so may damage the burner or cause the burner to overheat. Care should be taken not to touch the burner as it may be hot.
IGNITION TIP:
Ignition is a two-step process:
- Depress ignition lever part way until the fuel flows (hissing sound), then continue depressing to activate Piezo ignition.
- Depressing lever should be a deliberate action rather than quick single stroke.
- Sequence is Gas--Spark--Ignition. If there is spark before gas flow, ignition will not occur
EXTINGUISHING THE BURNER:
- Remove thumb from ignition lever. This stops fuel flow, which results in flame being extinguished.
- Close cap by pressing shut until cap clicks into the closed position.
- When the lighter has just been filled and flame adjustment is set to the highest flame setting, flame may not extinguish immediately when ignition lever is released. This is caused by extra fuel entering the burner. When this occurs simply turn the flame adjustment ring toward (-) mark.
HIGH ALTITUDE LIGHTER TIPS:
Premium or triple refined butane fuel is recommended.
- Adjust flame adjustment ring to lean setting (-).
- Keep fuel tank as full as possible
- Store lighter in temperatures above 35 degrees F (inside pocket)
OPERATING TIP:
After filling with Premium butane gas and before igniting, allow gas temperature to equilibrate with mechanism temperature (gas is much colder) by holding in hand or letting lighter stand for 1-2 minutes.
